SNS deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic says that his party condemns the recent spate of violent incidents and “the bandits who attack foreigners for no reason.“ “Beating up foreigners is something very strange. I wonder how the authorities are unable to prevent this, both in terms of intelligence and other ways. That’s something I cannot understand,” Vucic told daily Politika. "SNS condemns violent incidents" “It just seems to me that we would be fully prepared to prevent it and nip it in the bud. How come they can’t secure the gay parade? I don’t have to like the gay parade, but all those who take part in it have to be safe,“ the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader said. “No-one can threaten their physical integrity. We’ve got police and physical force! You can wear a hood to a wedding. You can in the street too, but if you throw a stone you’ll be arrested in five minutes,” he stressed. Asked whether the SNS, besides verbal condemnations, had done anything tangible to prevent violence, Vucic underlined that his party were in opposition. “But, if you want to propose to me some specific action, we’re ready. Look, in the next 10-15 days, we’ll hold campaigns showing our position and how important it is for our country to get to grips with those who think they can attack foreigners,“ said the SNS deputy leader. “I was in a situation in Paris, where my wife’s life was saved. I see how in Serbia they beat up a Frenchman, for no reason, who then died of that beating. Then I felt as low as I ever have and ashamed,“ he recalled. Aleksandar Vucic (FoNet, archive)
