According to B92’s sources, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will be holding separate consultations with various ministers regarding reforms in the public sector. The talks will lead to determining how many employees from the state administration and public companies will be made redundant in order to cut state spending in accordance with demands made by the International Monetary Fund. Cvetkovic to discuss public sector reforms According to B92’s sources, the government is expected to adopt three laws at a meeting on Thursday that will enable the cuts in the number of state employees. The laws will be for the needed number of officials in local and state administrations and a law for changing the law for state officials. The number of people employed by the administration is expected to be decreased from 31,000 to 28,000, and 10,000 people are expected to be cut from the local self-administrations starting 2010. It was earlier announced that the number of court employees would be decreased by 2,000 and a decision on how many people will be made redundant in the health, education and defense system sectors is expected after further analysis.
