The government is sending its official report to the EC today on meeting the conditions for visa liberalization, says Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic. Djelic said that the report would show that Serbia had met all the conditions from the road map with a view to placing Serbia on the white Schengen list from January 1. Djelic: All Schengen criteria met He told a round table titled “Towards the White Schengen List“ that it would give citizens one of the four key European freedoms: the freedom of movement. He reiterated earlier that Serbia wanted to submit its EU membership application by the end of the year, but that this required a consensus within Brussels. “Serbia is entitled to apply here and now, but it wouldn’t bring us any practical benefit unless there was a consensus within the EU over that step. It would be a political act without any practical effect,” the minister told daily Vecernje Novosti. He said that Serbia’s priority had to be applying the Stabilization and Association Agreement, but that, for this to happen, cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and work on EU integration had to continue.
