Dragan Sutanovac says that Sunday's International Air Show in Batajnica, near Belgrade, represents "excellent promotion of Serbia and her aviation". The defense minister spoke a day ahead of the air show, which he described as the second largest this year in the world. Air show "chance to promote Serbia" "It represents a great recognition of our entire defense system, and especially the Air Force, which has never in history had the chance to host so many aircraft and states in its territory," Sutanovac told the state broadcaster RTS last night in Belgrade. But he also noted that Serbian pilots, "due to the economic situation", do not have as many flights under their belts as their colleagues from abroad, and stressed that "no pilot who is not ready and trained for these flights will take off". The minister explained that the "drill" will see participation from 15 countries and some 200 people, including pilots and their crews, while on the ground, several meetings and contacts will be made on various levels, including between army chiefs of staff and air force chiefs. "This is excellent promotion of our country and our air force," stated Sutanovac. The air show will take place on Sunday, from 10:00 until 17:00 CET, at the Batajnica military airport, north of Belgrade. The "static" part of the event will offer visitors a chance to see more than 40 aircraft displayed, while pilots will demonstrate their skills flying their MiG-29s, F-16s, Alpha Jets, and Grippens, among others. A number of helicopters, including Mi-25, Mi-171Cx, Eurocopter Cougar, and Alouette SA 316, will also participate in the air show. Preparations at Batajnica (Tanjug)
