The Kosovo company in charge of electricity supply, KEK, now wants control over EPS' managerial building in the town of Strpce. This is according to Strpce municipal assembly chairman Bojan Savic. The building in question belongs to the Kosovo branch – Elektrokosmet – of the state-owned EPS power company. New demands as power cuts continue Serbs in this region of the province, known as Sirnicka Zupa, have been cut off from electricity for a month. According to Savic, the signing of collective contracts with KEK did not even start, when its representatives came up with the new demand that they want met in order to restore electricity to households in the area. "KEK workers received the keys to a substation which they returned today, asking for something that is not in their jurisdiction or ours, and that is the EPS managerial building." Savic accused KEK representatives of not honoring previous agreements, and of making greater demands with each passing day. "We are waiting for instruction from official Belgrade, and then we'll see what to do," he said, stressing that the situation in the municipality, after it was left without electricity for a month, is extremely difficult. Yesterday, local councilors said they were in favor of signing a collective agreement to resolve the problem. Bojan Savic (Beta) "EULEX not in charge of electricity" European Union (EU) Kosovo Mission EULEX spokeswoman Karin Limdal said on Tuesday that EULEX is a rule of law mission and that it is not involved in issues pertaining to electric energy problems in Kosovo or in the activities of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK). Lumdal spoke following a statement made by Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Zvonko Stevic, who said EULEX representatives are primarily responsible for the grave predicament of the residents of Strpce. The EU Mission in Kosovo is not in charge of this issue, Limdal said. EULEX can react only in situations of unrests, she specified in a written statement received by Tanjug.
