A Kosovo company distributing electricity has cut off the Serbs living in Sirnicka Zupa region from the power grid at midnight. The households there were previously allowed to use the so-called humanitarian electricity, when they were reconnected daily from midnight until 7 o'clock in the morning. Power completely cut off to Serb enclave That went on for 14 days, after the Serbs in the municipality of Strpce agreed to pay the company, known as KEK, a lump sum of EUR 26, but would not sign collective and individual contracts. The local Serbs won't agree to let KEK take over the local power transformer station, since KEK offered no guarantees that the old debt would be written off, reported state television RTS. The power cuts are causing most disruption in the work of local health services. All attempts to reach a solution in negotiations between the Strpce Serbs and KEK have so far failed.
