Opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic says that new elections would be preferable to a revamped ruling majority. He said that the LDP would not consider replacing G17 Plus in a government reconstruction, should such an eventuality arise. LDP opposes govt. reconstruction “This government does not have the strength for substantial reforms, it has no vision, and is a government that deals with itself… the LDP cannot participate in such a government, but not because we are in the opposition and we are asking for something in return for a transfer into power, but because I do not see how we could do anything in that government, other than exacerbate the internal chaos,” he said. The LDP leader said that the answer to the “government’s incompetence” was not a reconstruction, but parliamentary elections that would be entered with clearly defined goals, though profiled European policies, and without demonization of political opponents. The date for holding elections would have to be reached in agreement between the parliamentary parties and the prime minister, Jovanovic said, adding that one should not ignore the fact that no country, in this phase of the crisis, was organizing elections or running election campaigns, because that only made the problem worse.
