Italian and Romanian Foreign Ministers Franco Frattini and Cristian Diaconescu will be meeting with Serbian senior officials to discuss EU integration. The two foreign ministers will arrive in here on Monday, where they will meet with President Boris Tadic and Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Italian, Romanian FMs in Belgrade The main topic of discussion will be Serbia’s European integration and the liberalization of the visa regime, as well as increasing economic and trade cooperation between the three countries. Ahead of this visit, German ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas said that the European Parliament elections will not effect Serbia’s European path. “There is agreement in general between all 27 member-states of the European Union that we want to see Serbia in the European Union, as well as the rest of the Western Balkans. That is unquestionable. The results of the elections for the European Parliament will not change opinions that exist in the European Union. The speed of integration for all individual countries will depend exclusively on the speed at which the government’s of the countries adopt the needed rules and regulations,” Maas said. European Movement Coordinator Jelica Minic told B92 that taking into consideration the announcements by the European Commission that Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro could get the green light by the end of the year for abolishing visas for traveling in the EU, the visit of the officials is "very encouraging". “There is progress generally in the policies of enlargement for the European Union, and it is the fact that the Czech presidency insisted greatly on visa liberalization,” she said. “The entire package of message has great importance to the countries of the region, taking into consideration the context of the international economic and financial crisis, and taking into consideration the decrease in trust of the citizens in achieving the European future of he regional countries,” Minic said. Before his trip to Belgrade, Frattini said that unfreezing the interim trade deal and the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between Serbia and the EU is something that can no longer be postponed. Minic said that Frattini’s stance "is an important message for Serbia and the region". “It is very important that the perspective is open for Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and that would present one road with no returns, as far as the total orientation, the interests of the administrations of the regional countries, candidate status for all regional countries, plus visa liberalization, and the all the countries of the region would be on a stable road to the EU,” she said. During the visit, a joint statement will be signed between the foreign ministers of Serbia, Italy and Romania, and a preliminary agreement on cooperation in the electrical energy sector.
