Labor Minister Rasim Ljajic says 15-16 ministries are ample and that the govt. will send a negative message if it fails to cut the present number of ministries. Ljajic said that changes to the Constitution should also be considered, since a 150-seat parliament would be quite sufficient. "15-16 ministries optimal for Serbia" "Should there be no such cuts (in the number of ministries), the government should explain as soon as possible why not and put a stop to the speculation, because this idea was in fact launched by the ruling coalition," the minister said in an interview for Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti published on Friday. “Should it not be possible to radically reduce the number of ministries, then this should be done at least in a symbolic manner,“ he said. “Reducing the number of secretaries of state would consequently yield significant savings,“ he said, adding that it would demonstrate the government’s determination to be as expeditious as possible.
