Serbia has persuaded a number of ex-Yugoslav republics not to take part in the case at the International Court of Justice, writes the Pristina press. Daily Zeri states that Belgrade has persuaded Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro not to defend Kosovo’s independence in The Hague, even though all three have already recognized the province's unilateral independence declaration. "Serbia pressured ex-Yu to stay out of ICJ case" Zeri says that Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic convinced Macedonia and Montenegro, and most significantly Croatia, to either stay on the sidelines during the case or not submit any material relevant to the proceedings. Slovenia is the only former Yugoslav republic that will be assisting Kosovo at the ICJ, writes the daily.
