The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is expected to reveal which countries have submitted their written statements in the Kosovo case. The Hague-based court has last Friday received Serbia's motion claiming the illegality of Kosovo Albanian's unilateral declaration of independence. ICJ to announce participants by week's end Although this was expected to take place today, the official list will be made public by the end of the week, RFE reports. According to unofficial information, this could be the ICJ case with the highest number of participant states in the court's history. Earlier on Monday, B92 learned unofficially that 18 states that have recognized the proclamation, and 15 that have not, would take part in the process. Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said on Sunday that many countries from all continents have announced they would participate, and said official Belgrade "can be optimistic" about the case. Jeremic told B92 that the process is in many ways historic, since an act of secession is being debated for the first time, which has included a large number of countries, while some of the world's greatest powers, such as China, have for the first time officially submitted their opinion in a case. The minister also stated that Serbia has been very active diplomatically in order to draw the attention of as many countries to the Kosovo problem, and that this effort has been successful. Jeremic believes that the ICJ case will have "huge significance" for the future of international relations.
