Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci says that Kosovo has become a great place for foreign investment since it declared unilateral independence. Thaci told a Kosovo-Greek economic forum in Pristina that independence had opened a clear and sure path for development, as well as for the province’s economic and political integration into the world. He added that trends showed that Kosovo enjoyed sustainable economic growth and that economic development had been substantial last year. Thaci said that Kosovo offered many possibilities for investors—rich natural resources, a young and motivated population, free access to the CEFTA market and those of neighboring countries, modern legal frameworks meeting European standards, and the euro as its domestic currency. Kosovo Chamber of Commerce President Besim Beqaj, who hosted the forum, said that economic and general relations with Greece were a priority for Pristina. “Greece is a partner of great interest in economic terms, and I expect this forum to once again confirm the possibility of cooperation between our two countries and companies from our countries,” he said. The Greek delegation of some 60 company representatives was meeting to discuss cooperation with Kosovo businessmen.
