Solana, Thaci meet in Brussels

EU Security and Foreign Policies Chief Javier Solana met in Brussels with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci to discuss relations between the EU and Kosovo. “The overall evaluation is that Kosovo has made progress, but there are many challenges ahead and Kosovo will have to double its efforts,” Solana’s cabinet stated. Solana, Thaci meet in Brussels The statement adds that Solana “encouraged Kosovo to continue close cooperation with the EU special representative and his team, and with other EU officials on the field in order to better prepare for the European future of Kosovo within the framework of the Western Balkans.” Solana said that he is satisfied with the initial, concrete results of the EU mission in Kosovo (EULEX). “Solana stresses that there is a need to improve the rule of law and that in this context, efforts of the EULEX mission are of crucial importance for the future development of Kosovo and the well-being of all communities,” according to the statement. Solana and Thaci agreed that economy is one of the biggest challenges, "which makes the continuation of reforms in Kosovo even more important".
