Two opposition parties on Saturday in several Belgrade municipalities presented their economic program for the economic crisis. Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and New Serbia (NS) representatives told citizens that the state is finding itself in an increasingly difficult position. Opposition: Great hunger and poverty DSS official and former minister Slobodan Lalovic said that Serbia is "sinking ever deeper economy-wise with each passing month", and that the reason for this is not the global economic meltdown but "the government's ineptitude in managing the country." According to him, it is realistic for Serbia to expect the hardest social circumstances "that we all remember" to repeat this year and the next. Lalovic also predicted "great hunger and poverty". He expects that the citizens will have a chance to go to the polls and choose a government that can kick-start the country's economic recovery. This DSS official also addressed the upcoming anniversary of NATO's attacks against Serbia, to announce a gathering in the form of a national academy in Belgrade's Sava Centar conference hall, and say that Serbia is under obligation to remember this aggression, "which the current government is trying to forget". DSS spokesman and Belgrade councilor Andreja Mladenovic said that the street campaign yesterday aimed to promote the party's economic program which was put together at the end of last year, in cooperation with its parters. According to him, the government is yet to suggest a single measure to fight the crisis. Mladenovic also accused the city authorities, as well as those on the state level, of behaving "as if they are unaware a crisis is ongoing". He also claims that the residents of Serbia's capital city have been "hit the hardest".
