The government has held a coordinating meeting that was to harmonize positions ahead of an IMF mission's arrival to Belgrade. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic presided over the meeting yesterday, with most ministers with economy-related portfolios present, as well as NBS Governor Radovan Jelasic. Meeting held, details withheld However, no details were revealed from the meeting. The IMF mission is due to arrive here on March 16, to discuss a new loan arrangement for Serbia. Cvetkovic previously announced that Serbia would seek some EUR 2bn from this international financial institution. According to him, the government's strategy in the talks will be "combined" – partly going for an increase in the budget deficit, but also toward reducing some spending. One of IMF's chief demands will be for Serbia to cut its public spending and present a clear strategy on the state's plans to maintain the microeconomic stability.
