Serbs from Silovo, near Gnjilane in Kosovo, have again gathered at the village entrance to protest against new electricity shortages. Kosovsko-Pomoravski District chief Dragan Nikolic told B92 that Serbs wanted to receive the same treatment as the Albanians and for the Kosovo Electricity Corporation (KEK) to restore their electricity supply. Serb power shortage protests continue “Today we will just hold a protest warning in the village, but the Kosovo police have been informed that if electricity is not returned to Silovo by tomorrow, the protest will again extend to an attempt to block the Gnjilane-Bujanovac highway,” said Nikolic. Serbs from Silovo came to blows with police twice last week while protesting at similar electricity shortages. Locals from Priluzje, where electricity was turned off 11 days ago, are also continuing their protests. Other towns without electricity include Grace, Plemetina and Babin Most in central Kosovo.
