“Democrats: No rift over statute”

Dusan Elezovic, a senior Democratic Party (DS) official in Vojvodina, says that there is no rift or division within the party regarding the Vojvodina statute. Elezovic said that he was convinced that the statute and the Law on Vojvodina’s Jurisdiction would be adopted in the state parliament “by mid-March at the latest.” “Democrats: No rift over statute” “There are no divisions within the DS regarding the statute, nor are there any problems in that sense within the ruling coalition at state level,” Elezovic told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik. He added that he did not expect any problems in confirming the “legal and technical” corrections to the draft statute in the provincial assembly, despite opposition from some parties to Vojvodina officials voting again on the draft that was adopted in mid-October of last year. Elezovic said that the Vojvodina assembly would give its opinion on the legal and technical issues once the draft Law on Vojvodina’s Jurisdiction was adopted in late February or early May. The DS official explained that there would be no substantial changes made to the Statute, but there would be technical, linguistic and legal changes made to its drafting.
