President of the European Parliament’s Southeast Europe Commission, Doris Pack, said that Serbia must complete cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. She added that there should be no debate on whether Serbia will have to recognize Kosovo Albanians' independence declaration in order to join the EU. "Condition Hague, this generation won't recognize" “I have known Serbs for a long time and I know that it is practically impossible for this generation to recognize Kosovo. The condition for Serbia’s European integration is full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. If it happens and Mladic goes to The Hague, I think we can move ahead,” Pack told daily Vecernje novosti. “However, entrance into the EU will not happen tomorrow, several years are needed. I hope that we are intelligent enough to find a solution for the problem once Serbia is given the go-ahead to join,” she said. Asked whether Serbian can achieve its two major goals this year, visa liberalization and become a candidate for membership, Pack said that it “depends on Serbia.” “We are prepared to do that if Serbia cooperates,” Pack said. Regarding the European Parliament’s call on EU member-states who have not recognized Kosovo’s independence to do so, Pack said that “we have colleagues in the parliament from countries that have not recognized Kosovo’s independence” and that they “were really numerous at the voting.” “Socialists and especially communists were also against it. The results of the voting primarily reflect the fact that there are countries that did not recognize independence. And, parliamentary officials follow the stances of their governments. But, that does not change anything,” Pack said.
