Groundwork begins for technical talks

UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier is meeting with Belgrade and Pristina officials in preparation for the coming talks on technical issues. UNMIK spokesman Alexander Ivanko told B92 that it was too early to say whether senior officials or experts from various fields would be participating in the talks. He said that this would become clear once Zannier finished preliminary talks with both sides. Based on these talks, he will decide what course the United Nations should take,” Ivanko explained. “The issues raised by the UN Secretary General in his November report are issues that should be discussed on a technical level and will probably include several international players, including EULEX,” he said. Serbian President Boris Tadic said that Serbia was prepared for talks that dealt with life issues in Kosovo, a statement that was met with disdain from opposition parties in parliament.
