Leader of the Bosniak List Sulejman Ugljanin and Novi Pazar Municipal President Mirsad Djerlek are expected to meet at government HQ today. The meeting comes in the wake of the recent tensions and clashes between Ugljanin’s supporters and the Sandzak Democratic Party, the ruling party in Novi Pazar, over incidents regarding office space in the town. Ugljanin meets with Novi Pazar mayor Djerlek told B92 that he had invited Ugljanin to meet with him in Novi Pazar, but that Ugljanin had said that he would rather meet in his cabinet at government HQ in Belgrade. Ugljanin is the government’s minister without portfolio. “I did not have any qualms as far as the general interest of the residents of Novi Pazar and political stability are concerned. I am ready to go to the most remote place on earth... I am ready for all kinds of compromise and, if we see things differently, that does not mean that we cannot talk and come to a solution,” he said. “We will discuss the current issues with the office space and the reasons behind the incidents. We can make a compromise in the sense that we will probably offer him another office, because I don’t know if there’s anywhere in Serbia where a party’s headquarters are located in the building of the city administration,” Djerlek said. Four people were injured on January 17 in Novi Pazar, with one person being shot through the leg. The incident was triggered by the ruling parties’ decision not to allow the opposition Bosniak List officials to use their offices located in the town’s Cultural Center.
