The government has appointed new ambassadors to a number of countries, including the U.S., Holland and Greece, along with a permanent representative to the UN. According to dailies Vecernje Novosti and Blic, the current chargé d’affaires in Washington, Vladimir Petrovic, is the main contender to take over the ambassadorial post there from Ivan Vujacic. "Govt. appoints new ambassadors" At the UN, Pavle Jevremovic will be replaced by Deputy Foreign Minister Feodor Starcevic, who served in the Yugoslav mission to the UN in the early Eighties. According to Blic, Branko Radosevic will become the new general consul in New York, while Novosti states that the new ambassador to Greece will be Dragan Zupanjevac, currently chargé d’affaires in London. The new ambassador to Holland will be Cedomir Rajkovic, who will replace Radoslav Stojanovic, while Dragana Filipovic will represent Serbia in Strasbourg. Novosti understands that the government has withdrawn the nomination of former daily Politika Editor-in-Chief Ljiljana Smajlovic for ambassador to Canada.
