Kosovo Albanian authorities have decided to name one of the main streets in Pristina after outgoing U.S. President George Bush. The decision, explained as a sign of respect for Bush, was made during a government meeting on Wednesday, and it passed unanimously. Pristina street named after Bush "This is a step of great state respect and gratefulness for the United States' engagement in favor of Kosovo's independence," PM Hashim Thaci said. Another former U.S. president, Bill Clinton, already has a boulevard named after him in Pristina. He was honored for holding office in 1999, when NATO attacked Serbia. However, the construction of Clinton's statue required additional funds, and the Kosovo government set EUR 5,000 aside for this purpose at its session yesterday. According to a Beta news agency report, Bush is seen in Kosovo as one of the most important world leaders that supported Kosovo Albanians' declaration, which Washington recognized a day after it was made.
