Assistant Defense Minister Ilija Pilipovic says there is "no conflict of concepts in the Serbian Army (VS)". Pilipovic was rejecting claims made earlier this week by VS Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Zdravko Ponos. MoD: No conflicting concepts "There cannot be a conflict of concepts when there is only one - that is created by the Ministry of Defense. That is how it is defined under the laws on the army and on defense, and the mandates are clearly defined in these documents," Pilipovic said in an interview to the Belgrade daily Politika published on Thursday. Speaking in reaction to allegations of bad management of state funds by the Defense Ministry, he underscored that "this is absolutely incorrect". Commenting Ponos's statement that the country has no defense policy, Pilipovic told Politika: "Annual analyses of combat readiness are made in March. At that time, the situation was assessed as positive, without indication of any dramatic threats to the security of Serbia and the region." "Lt. Gen. Ponos himself on several occasions reiterated such an assessment," Pilipovic said.
