EU's special representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith says that the most important thing now is for EULEX to deploy in all of Kosovo. "It is certain that the reality on the ground will change on Dec. 9," he told Albanian language daily Express. Feith: Deployment is what matters According to thus Dutch diplomat, "there is an idea that EULEX will have its personnel in the field on Oct. 9 in all parts of Kosovo. On that day the mission will deploy up to Zubin Potok and Leposavic." Asked "why the international community should talk to Belgrade about those issues concerning the territory of Kosovo", Feith said, in reference to the areas inhabited by Serbs, that the residents of "that part of Kosovo look to Belgrade". "I don't know when you were last in northern Kosovo, but if you go to the north or to the enclave of Strpce and talk to the Serbs, you see that they are prone to looking to Belgrade, for help and advice… this is a part of efforts to integrate northern Kosovo." He also said that the UN will "continue to carry out its remaining functions in Kosovo", and explained that one of those is to "facilitate dialogue, perhaps later, cooperation between Pristina and Belgrade". Also on Sunday, EULEX mission chief Yves de Kermabon was reported as saying that some 100 of his men would be deployed in the Serb-held north. He told Tanjug news agency and Kosovska Mitrovica Kontakt Plus Radio in an interview that "several policemen and border policemen" will be deployed at two checkpoints which the Serbs burned several days after the Kosovo Albanians unilaterally declared independence in February. Kermabon added that a number of policemen would also be posted in front of the court houses in Kosovska Mitrovica – where serious violence occurred in March – and confirmed that on Tuesday EULEX would deploy "in the whole territory of Kosovo".
