Hungary’s Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany says that Hungary supports Serbia’s EU path and wants to help accelerate her EU integration process. Gyurcsany told a press conference after meeting Serbian counterpart Mirko Cvetkovic that “it will not be easy” and that both countries need to do “a lot” to achieve that goal. Gyurcsány and Cvetkovic said that relations between the two countries were good and that they constituted an example of good neighborly relations, adding that there were no open issues regarding ethnic minorities. Cvetkovic told the Hungarian prime minister that Serbia would not give up the fight for its territorial integrity, though using exclusively peaceful and diplomatic means. The two prime ministers agreed that economic cooperation should be improved. Earlier, Gyurcsany met with the representatives of the Hungarian national minority at the Hungarian embassy. He is also due to meet with President Boris Tadic later.
