Oliver Ivanovic told B92 on Sunday that Belgrade striking a deal over EULEX "would be the best solution for the Serbs in Kosovo". The state secretary with the Ministry for Kosovo added that this should come with a UN green light. "Deal best solution, K. Albanian institutions weak" "The best solution would be to somehow reach agreement over EULEX, to have it be a part of the UN mission under the Security Council supervision," Ivanovic added. "Unless there is agreement, the UN would have to start bringing back their policemen and judges that they've been sacking lately, downsizing the number of employees in their mission." "I hope for a meeting of the people of good will ahead of the UN Security Council session in order to find an acceptable solution for Serbia and for the people who live in Kosovo," he continued. However, a different message is being broadcast from the Kosovo president's office: that Pristina finds only a mission based on the Ahtisaari plan acceptable, while Albanian language daily Koha Ditore says Brussels officials have been assuring Kosovo Albanians that any possible deal on EULEX with Belgrade will not come in the format of an agreement, and that it will not mention rejection of the Ahtisaari plan – something Belgrade insists on. But Ivanovic believes that the Albanian dissatisfaction "can be controlled". "Kosovo Albanians are, quite assuredly, under complete control. They are controlled by international and diplomatic offices in Kosovo and Metohija, above all the U.S. office," he said. "Their [Kosovo Albanian] institutions are weak, and to make matters worse, they have weak political leaders, so the only direction we're looking at are those international diplomatic offices. In case of a disturbance of some sort, the responsibility, too, must be split between those international offices and the weak institutions," Ivanovic, a Kosovo Serb politician from the G17 Plus ticket, said.
