MPs continue budget review debate Under the 2008 budget review, the deficit is due to be increased from EUR 484mn to EUR 541.5mn. Overall spending would increase from EUR 8bn to EUR 8.2bn, primarily with a view to funding the 10 percent pension increases that will require EUR 150.1bn, says the government. Opposition MPs have today criticized the draft budget review and insisted on the presence of government officials at the debate. There have been calls for the differing ministerial interpretations of the decision to raise pensions to the level of 70 percent of salaries to be clarified. Dragutinovic said that during the preparations for the 2009 budget, the priorities would be established, adding that it would not be possible to honor all the pre-election promises.
