The Security Information Agency (BIA) released its work report, four years after the passing of the law on the availability of information, daily Danas writes. The report, published on the BIA’s website, details that Serbians most often ask the agency about information on career opportunities, existence of personal files, wages of employees and acquisitions in “confidential procedures”. It also states that the BIA spent RSD 2.34bn (about EUR 28mn) from the Serbian budget this year, of the RSD 3.34bn (about EUR 40mn) that was set aside for the agency. The document states that “personal files, and the information itself that a file exists on an individual, are presented as state secrets and giving such information to uninvited persons is a criminal act according to criminal code regulations, which is prosecuted by official duty.” The same goes for information on whether someone is, or has been, associated with BIA or any of national security agencies. The report contains information on the organization, administration, chain of command, wages, assets, budget and use of funds within the agency. The document is also an annual presentation of the given information according to the Law on Free Access to Information.
