The District Court has received the findings of the forensic examination into the cause of Ranko Panić’s death following the SRS protest of July 30.

The District Court has received the findings of the forensic examination into the cause of Ranko Panic’s death following the SRS protest of July 30. The examination was carried out by experts from the Medical Faculty in Novi Sad, said District Court spokeswoman Ivana Ramic, adding that the investigative judge had passed the findings on to the District Prosecution, which recommended the examination in the first place. The prosecution stated earlier that the examination was “essential for the prosecution’s further activities in the case, and for shedding light on all the circumstances that led to Panic’s death.“ After assessing the findings of the examination, the prosecution will then decide on what further action to take. Panic, who was admitted to hospital in Belgrade on July 30 suffering internal injuries, died on August 15. The examination was carried out into the form and severity of the victim’s injuries, and on what caused the injuries and their part in his death.

The prosecution stated earlier that the examination was “essential for the prosecution’s further activities in the case, and for shedding light on all the circumstances that led to Panić’s death.“

After assessing the findings of the examination, the prosecution will then decide on what further action to take.

Panić, who was admitted to hospital in Belgrade on July 30 suffering internal injuries, died on August 15.

The Serb Radical Party and the Serb Progressive Party claim that Panić died of injuries sustained during the protest against the arrest of Radovan Karadžić in Belgrade on July 29.
