All the For a European Serbia coalition’s mandates are in the hands of Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic. Only Mladjan Dinkic has signed an agreement which guarantees him all 24 seats in parliament for his G17 Plus party, Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti writes. “Mandates in Tadic’s hands” Warnings that five MPs from the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV)could withdraw their support to the government has not worried President Boris Tadic overly, the daily writes. However, certain potential “substitutes” from the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) have ruled out the mere possibility of participating in a government reshuffle, if it came to it. The SNS has no intention of joining the ruling coalition. SNS senior official Jorgovanka Tabakovic said that speculation about the recently formed SNS being a “reserve” for the LSV, were just a smokescreen to hide the prevailing anti-Russian mood. "God forbid that the SNS be some reserve possibility for Boris Tadic instead of Nenad Canak,” Tabakovic told the daily. Nor is the LDP willing to become a replacement for any party of the ruling coalition. The Serb Renewal Movement (SPO) claims that the stability of the ruling coalition is not at risk, even though its leader Vuk Draskovic has been a vocal critic of the signing of the Declaration of Political Reconciliation between the Socialist Party of Serbia and the Democratic Party. "The government is not in crisis,” SPO Vice President Srdjan Sreckovic said, rejecting the possibility that the LSV, led by Nenad Canak, could be replaced by the LDP or the SNS. The gas issue has, at least for now, been closed, the daily writes, without undue harm being done to Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic’s government.
