EU keeps Balkans off agenda
The French EU presidency has stated that there will be no debate on issues regarding the Western Balkans at the Union's Luxemburg summit.

The French EU presidency has stated that there will be no debate on issues regarding the Western Balkans at the Union's Luxemburg summit. EU foreign ministers will meet today to debate the financial crisis in Europe and relations with Russia which will also be a subject of meetings Wednesday and Thursday of EU member-states leaders in Brussels. EU keeps Balkans off agenda However, it has not been ruled out that there could be informal debates regarding the region. “The Netherlands still wants further evidence of Serbia’s cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, which comes down to providing guarantees that Ratko Mladic will be arrested, in order for the Interim Agreement to be unblocked,” Beta news agency Brussels correspondent Dragan Blagojevic says. The agency added that while "nobody believes this could be a subject of debate", some of the ministers "could notice" the fact that the UN General Assembly has adopted Serbia’s ICJ resolution on the legality of Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence.
