An EP rapporteur on Kosovo said on Saturday that he preferred "a simultaneous integration of both Serbia and Kosovo into the European Union". But, Joost Lagendijk said, this should come "only once their mutual relations had been resolved". "Serbia, Kosovo in EU after resolving issues" "I would accept neither Serbia nor Kosovo as long as their relations were not resolved in a proper manner," Lagendijk told a press conference held in Caglavica at the end of a four-day visit of a European Parliament delegation to Kosovo. "We should not import problems into the EU, but rather try resolve them at the international level before we do that," Lagendijk said. According to Tanjug news agency, he went on to say that he is "convinced" that Serbia's joining the EU would be conditioned by the settlement of the Kosovo issue, as well as that it is for the Serbian people and their Belgrade authorities to decide what is that they want to do. The aim of the EP delegation's visit to Kosovo was to obtain the latest information on the security situation and other important events so that a new report cold be drafted, which is due to be presented to the parliamentarians at the beginning of next year. Lagendijk said that the report would emphasize the need that EULEX be deployed all over Kosovo, and added that in case that that did not happen, Kosovo would be divided into two parts with UNMIK in the north and EULEX south of the River Ibar.
