The Social-Democratic Union has condemned the threats and attacks on the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia. Yesterday, the 1389 organization tried to forcefully enter the Committee’s headquarters in Belgrade. SDU condemns attacks on NGO “This frantic campaign against Helsinki Committee President Sonja Biserko, which is usually led by para-state media, has now been joined by the shock troops of chauvinistic political circles in Serbia, the 1389 organization, who have been blocking traffic in Belgrade for weeks now without any reaction from the government,” reads a SDU statement. The party “warns all those turning a blind eye to this lynch that sadly they too are becoming accessories to the subversion of fundamental democratic currents in Serbia.”
