The Serbian parliament continued its work today, but the items of the agenda were once again not the subject of the debate. After one recess earlier in the day the session continued, however, Speaker Slavica Dejanovic-Djukic’s appeals seem to had fallen on deaf ears, as Serb Radical Party (SRS) MPs persisted in protesting the procedure. Parliament facing obstruction once again They insisted that the issue of ownership over mandates of breakaway lawmakers, who have left the SRS to join Tomislav Nikolic’s parliamentary group, be solved. The Radicals again brought up the question of Djukic-Dejanovic’s sacking, first mentioned during the previous parliamentary deadlock ahead of the SAA ratification. Topping the planned agenda for the session this Friday was a proposal for terminating the duty of judicial officials. Discussion was also scheduled to begin regarding proposed laws which will be needed for Serbia to get on the so-called White Schengen visa list, along with several anti-corruption laws. Lawmakers did not begin debates yesterday for establishing the daily agenda because the Radical MPs took the whole day to criticize a MUP report on the SRS-organized rally of July 29. They also demanded that the officials of the Forward Serbia parliamentary club led by former SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic return their mandates to the SRS. Proposals for selecting new members of the National Bank of Serbia’s council and for selecting a deputy citizens’ ombudsman are also on the agenda today. MPs attend the session today (FoNet)
