Oliver Ivanovic says problems over the departure of KPS Serb are a “result of the ill-advised moves of the last govt.” “That’s why we’re having to go to such great lengths now to find a solution to the problem of security for Serbs that live outside northern Kosovo,” said the Kosovo Ministry state secretary. KPS problems "fault of previous govt." “We had to stay inside, Serb officers could have removed their Kosovo Police Service (KPS) badges, put on UNMIK badges, which was also a solution. But, there was simply no thought there. Sometimes I get the feeling that the previous government tried to make the situation as bad as possible,” said Ivanovic. “In Gracanica we had over 20 policemen, only three were Albanians, the others Serbs. Now in Gracanica you have 20 Albanians controlling traffic, and it’s only a matter of time when some sort of incident will happen with unpredictable repercussions,” he added. The state secretary said that such decisions were taken “to divert attention from certain realistic political problems and to score some cheap political points ahead of the last elections.” He stressed that “we now have to do everything to rectify those mistakes if at all possible.” Oliver Ivanovic (Beta, archive)
