A senior SRS official says that the party has been in a state of crisis for over a year. Igor Mirovic, chairman of Novi Sad Serb Radical Party (SRS) board, told daily Gradjanski List that inter-personal relations within the party had been severely damaged. “SRS crisis brewing for long time” Mirovic said that the party presidency, of which he is a member, had not shown the sincere will to tackle essential issues at last Friday’s session, adding that the problems had been threatening to come to the surface for some time. He said that he had asked the presidency not to accept former deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic’s resignation and to openly discuss problems within the party. "The crisis that has long been looming has burst out in public. The session where everything started only lasted 30 minutes,” Mirovic said. "What we have here can only lead to a division of the party, and that’s the worst solution. Our political opponents would gain the most benefit from it. You can see them reveling in the goings-on in the SRS,” he pointed out. He said that the party needed a change in organizational structure. Asked which side he supported, Mirovic replied that readers themselves could judge that based on what he had said.
