Spreading the Kosovo govt.’s authority to the north cannot happen quickly or violently, says Kosovo’s deputy PM. "I’m talking specifically about actions linked to Leposavic, Zubin Potok and other municipalities that are not 100 percent under our control," he said. Pristina: Authority can’t be spread by force "We are ready and it is our duty to do it, but we can’t fool our citizens into thinking that it can be done quickly, still less violently,” Hajredin Kuqi, told journalists in Pristina. This was Kuqi’s response to accusations from opposition parties that the government was not doing enough to establish power in the north of Kosovo. He said that the government was closely cooperating with international factors, as well as with the Serb minority in the province to help it integrate into Kosovo society. "Let's ignore UNMIK" Mayor of the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica Bajram Rexhepi on Wednesday accused UNMIK for obstruction and added that he does not believe that the EU mission (EULEX) will be established in northern Kosovo. “By the end of this year we should start to ignore UNMIK. They are taking part in the obstruction,” he told the Vienna daily Der Standard, criticizing the division of the northern town. Rexhepi does not believe that EULEX will succeed to establish itself in northern Kosovo, pointing out that communication with the population living to the north from the bridge is possible only through the UN administration.
