Kosovo officials aren’t lending any significance to Serbia’s initiative to seek the ICJ’s opinion on the province’s independence. “This activity is doomed to failure. We’re not interested in Serbia and we have no phobia of her. Serbia tried to destroy Kosovo, even 100 years from now it will try to be an irritant, but Kosovo will develop independently of Serbia,“ Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuqi told Pristina daily Lajm. Pristina: ICJ initiative doomed In mid-August, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic submitted a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly proposing that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) give its opinion on the legality of Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration. The daily adds that Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu and the province’s foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni would, in bilateral meetings in New York in September, attempt to persuade countries that have not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence to do so.

In mid-August, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić submitted a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly proposing that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) give its opinion on the legality of Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration.

The daily adds that Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu and the province’s foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni would, in bilateral meetings in New York in September, attempt to persuade countries that have not yet recognized Kosovo’s independence to do so.
