A French official says that Kosovo is "a unique case" and that it cannot represent a precedent. A French foreign ministry official told Tanjug news agency on Thursday that the case of Kosovo cannot be used as a model for the demands of Abkhazia and South Ossetia for independence from Georgia. Paris: Kosovo is unique case "As you are aware, Kosovo is a unique case and we have always said that it will not represent a precedent," Frederic Desagneaux said. Desagneaux was responding to Tanjug's question whether France would back the demands of South Ossetia and Abhasia for independence on the basis of the right of nations to self-determination, which was the basis for the French recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. France supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, the spokesman said.
