Slavica Djukic Dejanovic and the Chinese ambassador have discussed the prospects for enhancing bilateral relations in future. “Relations between Serbia and China are traditionally good and there are no open issues between the two countries,” they noted, according to a Serbian parliament statement. Speaker, Chinese ambassador in talks “Bilateral political relations are based on mutual understanding, respect, equality, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states,” they said. “The two countries share the same or similar views on the most important international and internal issues,” they added. “As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China advocates the respect and implementation of UN documents, and fully supports Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its commitment to integration in European structures,” Wei Jinghua said. “Kosovo’s future status must be resolved through an agreement between the two parties, and on the basis of international legal principles,” he said. “China appreciates Serbia's principled support for its One China policy, based on considering Taiwan an integral part of China, and its respect for China's policy towards Tibet,” the ambassador added. He also wished Serbian athletes success at the Beijing Olympics.
