Serb Radical Party (SRS) officials have openly stood in support of war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic. After a session of the Vozdovac municipal assembly, SRS representatives, led by Nemanja Sarovic, marched past the Special Court in Ustanicka Street where Karadzic is being held in custody, singing chetnik songs and chanting “Radovan, Serb!“ SRS in open support for Karadzic The group was made up of around 20 SRS Vozdovac councilors, as well as SRS MPs. Raso Vucinic, a young man who claimed to have played the gusla together with Karadzic at the Luda Kuca (Mad House) restaurant in New Belgrade, was one of several Radical supporters arrested in Republic Square on the night of Karadzic’s arrest, following clashes with police. Vucinic is an SRS councilor in the City Assembly. SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic has scheduled a protest for next Tuesday entitled “For the Preservation of Democracy, and Against the Dictatorship led by Boris Tadic". Nikolic told a press conference that he had invited the Democratic Party of Serbia, new Serbia and “all honorable people“ from the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) “who didn’t know what [SPS leader] Ivica Dacic would do.
