The Interior Ministry has informed Tanjug that Radovan Karadzic’s alias, Dragan Dabic, is alive and well. “Such a man exists, he is alive, which means that falsified documents were used,” ministry agencies claim, as they continue to look into the rest of the details tied to Karadzic’s assumed identity. Who is (was) Dragan Dabic? There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding the identity that the former Bosnian Serb leader used while on the run from the authorities. There is information indicating that Dragan Dabic died in Sarajevo in 1993. Dragan Dabic from Sarajevo was killed by a sniper’s bullet coming from the direction of Serb forces commanded by Karadzic. Bosnian media are up in arms over the fact that Karadzic hid behind the identity of a man whose death he had command responsibility for, even though it is unclear whether this man was the Dragan Dabic in question. The brother of the deceased Dragan Dabic, Mladen, told Bosnian state television that he was shocked by the revelations. “It is shocking, absolutely horrific. He died in 1993 trying to find humanitarian help at Hero Square. He was running through there and the sniper came from a position in Vrace, and that’s where he died,” Mladen Dabic recalled.
