A senior Kosovo Serb has dismissed U.S. calls for the international community to take control over northern Kosovo. “I think this is a scandalous statement, the goal of which is to push the northern part of Kosovo into an independent Kosovo,” Deputy Speaker of the Kosovo Serb assembly Marko Jaksic told Beta in response to remarks from senior U.S. State Department official Daniel Fried yesterday. The deputy speaker said that Russia and China were also members of the international community, and that they had completely opposing positions on Kosovo to that of Fried.
