German ambassador Wolfram Maas says that Serbia will not be additionally conditioned on its EU integration path. Maas reminded that full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal was still the main condition for the application of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA). German ambassador: No additional conditions “Serbia and Serbia only decides the pace of its European path, and it decides how fast all the necessary harmonization will be achieved. It is something that can be decided only in Belgrade,” the German diplomat said. Maas told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik that this criterion was derived from the Copenhagen Criteria adopted by the EU in order to set the terms that should be met by countries aspiring for membership. The German ambassador added that the same set of rules pertained to harmonization of Serbia’s legislation with EU standards. He added that the results will be judicial, police and secret service reforms. "The fact that the police and secret services turned a blind eye when the mob in Belgrade set embassies of the western countries on fire just proves that these sectors still need reforms. However, no additional conditions were set before Serbia because of those events,” Maas revealed.
