The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) said in a statement on Saturday that the new government should withdraw the proposal to ratify the SAA. The Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the European Union should not be approved by parliament until it guarantees, through new talks with Brussels, that provisions related to Serbia's territorial wholeness will be included in the document. DSS: SAA ratification should be withdrawn DSS spokesman Andreja Mladenovic explained in a statement for Tanjug that such a stand was motivated by the protection of state and national interests. “Since 20 EU member states have violated the agreement in the most brutal way with their unlawful recognition of the Kosovo independence and since the EU has violated this agreement in the most brutal manner by sending its illegal EULEX mission for the realization of Kosovo's independence, it should be clear to all that Serbia cannot ratify such an agreement,” Mladenovic said. Therefore, according to him, in order to safeguard state and national interests, the new government should launch new negotiations with the EU, the aim of which would be that unequivocal guarantees of Serbia's territorial wholeness be provided for and included in the text of the SAA.
