The favorite pre-election promise of Serbian politicians to tackle corruption is not mentioned in the SPS-Democratic Party (DS) coalition agreement. Nemanja Nenadic from Transparency Serbia told B92 that he had expected it to be one of the key points of the deal. "No mention of corruption in coalition deal" “I hope that what [Socialist Party of Serbia leader] Ivica Dacic said after the signing of the coalition agreement and the omission of any mention of tackling corruption as one of the new government's priorities was pure chance. It was expected that fighting corruption would be there, since it was mentioned so many times during the campaign and immediately after the elections by all the parties looking to form the new government,” said Nenadic. "However, even when tackling corruption is mentioned, as was the case in 2007, 2004 and 2001, that still does not mean that corruption will be fought in a more effective way,” he lamented.
