FM: Serbia needs Spain's support

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic says that Spain is one of the countries that most strongly backs Serbia in its EU integration and the defense of its territorial integrity. “No-one has offered stronger or more vocal support than Spain at all international forums where we've promoted the interests of our country,“ Jeremic told a rally to mark the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Madrid and Belgrade. Spanish Ambassador to Belgrade Jose Siqueira said that in the last 30 years Serbia and Spain had helped each other mutually, and that Serbia would have Spain’s backing in future when it came to European integration. He said that he hoped there would be no repeat of the mistakes of the past that had befallen both countries, alluding to Franco’s dictatorship and the Slobodan Milosevic era. Spanish Ambassador to Belgrade Jose Siqueira said that in the last 30 years Serbia and Spain had helped each other mutually, and that Serbia would have Spain’s backing in future when it came to European integration.

He said that he hoped there would be no repeat of the mistakes of the past that had befallen both countries, alluding to Franco’s dictatorship and the Slobodan Milošević era.
