The new parliament's first sitting will continue tomorrow, it has been confirmed, with election of new speaker on the agenda. The speaker, it has been said unofficially, will likely be Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic of the Socialists Party of Serbia (SPS). Speaker from ranks of Socialists? This is due to the fact the parties have not yet submitted their proposals for deputy speakers and heads of parliament's working bodies. Interim Speaker Jovan Krkobabic, PUPS, today scheduled the continuation of the top legislative body's first session, adjourned on June 11 after the MP mandates were verified, with no majority to elect a new government. If the new speaker is elected, she or he could choose to call an urgent session to ratify the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) and the strategic energy agreement with Russia.
