SRS quashes rumors of Nikolić-Šešelj conflict

SRS Secretary-General Aleksandar Vucic says there is no conflict between party leader Vojislav Seselj and deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic. “There’s no dispute, we’re fine, thanks for asking,” Vucic told a press conference. SRS quashes rumors of Nikolic-Seselj conflict He did not wish to go into any details over the alleged tension between the Serb Radical Party’s two most senior figures, saying that Nikolic “gives his own interviews,“ and that some of his remarks had been “taken out of context.“ To recap, in an interview published in today’s edition of daily Glas Javnosti, Nikolic said that Seselj had come to an agreement with Vojislav Kostunica that the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader should be their coalition’s candidate for prime minister “behind his back“. “I was angry when Seselj and Kostunica made a deal for the latter to be the Serb Radical Party (SRS)-Democratic Party of Serbia’s (DSS) candidate for prime minister. They made the deal behind my back,“ the SRS deputy leader told Glas Javnosti. He said that he had accepted the decision, as the party had subsequently approved the move.“The truth is Seselj trips me up in certain aspects. The truth is that I’ve been outvoted on a lot more occasions, but so too has Seselj,“ said the SRS deputy leader, quoting as an example the fact that Seselj had felt that a pre-election agreement should have been reached with United Serbia leader Dragan Markovic.
