Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic, DS, says that the arrest of Stojan Zupljanin shows that Serbia is doing everything in her power to complete cooperation with the Hague. After meeting with European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn and EU Foreign Policy and Security Chief Javier Solana, Djelic said that Hague cooperation was a necessary condition that had to be completed. Djelic: Serbia doing best to cooperate The minister spoke to Solana on Wednesday about implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), the National Program for Serbia’s EU integration, and the EULEX mission. “We know that Mr. Zupljanin’s arrest is just further proof that Serbia is doing everything in its power to complete cooperation with the Tribunal. We expect the EU Council of Ministers to allow the launch of the temporary agreement as soon as possible, as well as mechanisms for the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA),“ he said. Solana said that the fugitive’s arrest was very positive news. “The arrest of fugitives and their being brought to trial are good for us all. That’s one form of cooperation that Serbia has committed to, so this is good news,“ Solana told journalists. Asked whether it could lead to a positive appraisal at the EU Council of Ministers concerning Serbia’s cooperation with the Hague, Solana said that it was not his place to say.
